The school is located in the Sinda district, which is in the Southern part of the country’s Eastern Province, near the border with Mozambique.
There are 518 children enrolled at the school, and every school day they receive maize and soya porridge fortified with essential vitamins and minerals.
This daily meal encourages the children to attend school and gives them the energy they need to get the most out of their classes.
With 45% of the country’s primary school children dropping out of school early, these school meals are vital to ensuring more children can take full advantage of education, and the doors it can open for a future free from poverty. Mary’s Meals has been operating in Zambia since 2014 and currently provides daily school meals to 420,896 children in 752 schools across the country.
